Paediatric Oncology Sister

The post holder will work closely with the Lead Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist for Children and Teenagers with Cancer to continue to develop a high quality service for children and teenagers with cancer and their families. You will work as part of the team to ensure the safe care of paediatric oncology patients on the Children's Ward and administration of chemotherapy. You will have a key role in the development and delivery of teaching programmes for staff.

You will need to be an RN Child and have a high level of up-to-date relevant clinical knowledge and experience in paediatric nursing at senior band 5 or band 6, a 1st Level Nursing degree and experience of caring for children and teenagers with cancer and their families. An accredited post registration chemotherapy qualification in this specialist area of nursing practice is desirable or the willingness to undertake the training., Excellent communication skills will be needed to work across both professional and organisational boundaries in order to ensure co-ordinated patient care for these children, teenagers and their families. You should also be confident and self-motivated utilising the benefit of your clinical knowledge and experience and be able to act as a resource to all levels of healthcare professionals and support staff.
