Full Job Description
Paediatric Emergency Department at WRH. It is a busy department which offers extensive learning and development opportunities unique to an urgent care setting. We see a wide range of patients who require fast effective nursing care which encompasses many fields of expertise and specialities, whilst maintaining a child friendly atmosphere, and ensuring the child is at the centre of all we do. There are exciting times ahead as our paediatric team increases, and due to move into a brand new department within the next few months. As Sister / Charge Nurse of the Paediatric Department you will help lead and manage the department so that high quality, evidence based nursing care is delivered to patients and their carers. You will be an integral member of our team whom who maintain our on-going achievement of the emergency access standards. You must be committed to providing high quality nursing care; you will provide strong leadership and mentorship to junior staff and help support the senior team. You will be a highly visible leader and be experienced as a professional role model. In working in a progressively changing environment you will promote the Trusts values and be committed to high standards of service delivery. We highly recommend you review this document and use it when completing your application as these criteria are used by hiring managers as guidance during shortlisting., While working as a paediatric band 6 junior sister within ED team you will provide care to a range of patients within your scope of practice. To contribute to the delivery of high standards of nursing care. The post holder will be required to take charge of the paediatric area of the department and assist with the smooth running of the department, with the ongoing support from the band 7 team and professional development training team.
- NMC RNC PIN
- Evidence of continuing education and professional development
- NMC recognised teaching and assessing qualification, EPLS or equivalent
- Post registration qualification or experience in
- Paediatric sub-speciality
- First level degree or equivalent, Experience at Band 5 within the speciality or related field
- Shift management experience
- Ward / Department management experience at band 5 or above
- Ward / Department based teaching
- Managing clinical risk and incidents at ward/department level, Clinical audit activity
- Risk assessment/reporting
- Staff appraisals and PDP formation
- Sickness absence/monitoring
- Performance management
- Complaints handling using Essence of Care standards, Evidence of being up to date with current NHS/professional issues
- Experience and knowledge within the speciality or related field
- Clinical credibility
- Evidence of teaching and development skills
- Leadership skills and ability to inspire and motivate others
- Awareness of health and safety issues and management of them.
- Able to prioritise workload
- Fully aware of principles of infection control.
- Fully aware of the principles of clinical governance and the application of clinical governance.
- Computer literate as appropriate to the post
- Promote peoples equality, diversity and rights
