  • This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the 'ECT Family' this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.
  • We have an exciting opportunity for a Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate would be based within the children's unit but will be expected to undertake home and school visits. The children's unit at Macclesfield District General Hospital (MDGH) includes a 21 bedded unit, with integral observation beds, children's out-patients, Specialist Nurses for Diabetes, Epilepsy and Respiratory, a Research Nurse and a dedicated team of Children's Community Nurses to facilitate health care for children in their own homes., The Paediatric Diabetes Nurse Specialist will provide specialist education and nursing support to children and young people with diabetes and their families /carers. Encourage and support independence so that the young person is able to self-manage their diabetes when appropriate. To work within the multi-disciplinary team in developing high quality patient centred care ensuring that this is incorporated within the directorate and Trust objectives.     We are looking for a Children's nurse, with experience of caring for children with diabetes and managing their own workload. The successful applicant will need to be a team player with excellent communication skills and some staff supervision experience. The post holder will be expected to work week days to cover the diabetes service but may need to be flexible to meet the demands of the service. A full clean driving license is essential as is access to a car as the job will entail home and school visits., We welcome applications from Graduate visa holders; it is important to note that you must have a minimum of 6 months before this expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons., Please be aware that this post requires an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check with barred lists, the cost of which is payable by the successful candidate. If you have lived or worked abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years you will need to obtain an overseas police clearance.
