Full Job Description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic registered Children's Nurse to work within the Nottingham Children's Diabetes team as a Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Nurse on a permanent basis.
Nottingham Children's Hospital looks after around 440 children and young people with diabetes. Approximately 70% of our patients are on insulin pumps, CGM or a variety of Hybrid Closed Loop Systems. We are nationally recognised and continue to achieve some of the best diabetes outcomes in the country.
Excellent team working, effective communication, being highly organised and motivated, in addition to previous experiences in caring for children and young people with diabetes is desirable. The post holder will have post registration experience, working with children in hospital, outpatients and/or community settings.
The new post holder will be trained and supported in learning about the complex technology used in CYP and Type 1 Diabetes to enable them to hold a caseload of patients and manage their care in a variety of settings, give emergency advise and contribute to training other healthcare professionals.
You will be hospital based with a responsibility to see children and young people in inpatient and outpatient setting, liaise with families at home and provide education to school and nurseries.
