Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a strategic transmission infrastructure project for the client. This is a critical ASTI (Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment) project with a delivery deadline at the end of 2029. You will oversee the end-to-end delivery of the cable tunnel and associated infrastructure works, ensuring alignment with the ASTI framework requirements and regulatory approval established by Ofgem.,

  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of the cable tunnel and associated infrastructure works, ensuring alignment with the ASTI framework requirements - Manage the Main Works Contractor and coordinate all construction activities, with early works commencing February 2025.
  • Manage the construction of new Cable Sealing End Compounds (CSECs) in Tilbury and Gravesend - Oversee the delivery of the new 2.2km cable tunnel beneath the River Thames, containing two 400kV transmission circuits.
  • Coordinate the safe disconnection and decommissioning of existing cables and tunnel infrastructure - Liaise with the Great Grid Partnership regarding the reconductoring and uprating of 27km of overhead lines between Tilbury, Kingsnorth and Grain substations - Manage a fully integrated project programme, coordinating interfaces and resources to ensure achievability.
  • Work as part of a team with other Project Managers and the Lead Project Manager - Support the NEC4 Project Manager in carrying out their contractual duties within the Contract
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, the ASTI framework conditions, environmental legislation, and National Grid Technical Specifications - Monitor project budget, schedule, and quality standards - Manage risks and opportunities and enact change effectively to deliver best value outcomes - Provide regular project status reports giving accurate SHESQ performance, milestone progress and risk management data.
  • Capture and implement lessons learnt throughout the project lifecycle
  • Demonstrate project management experience of construction schemes delivered safely, sustainably, to specification, on time and to budget - Proficient knowledge of the application of CDM (Construction Design and Management).

    Proficient knowledge of NEC4 contracts - Knowledge of substations, cable tunnels or overhead lines - Undertake Project Induction, Tunnel Entry & Associated Emergency Arrangements training, and any other training deemed appropriate by National Grid - Intermittent Drugs & Alcohol Testing (as required).
