Full Job Description
If you are a passionate, patient and creative Teacher, Tutor or TA with teaching qualifications and experience with SEN learners, we want to hear from you! As an outreach Tutor for Chalkline, you would be considered an agency worker. There is no need register as self-employed, but if you prefer it that way, we can still work with you.
As an Outreach Tutor, you will be expected to adapt your approach to the individual you are working with, and have the ability to quickly develop rapport with children and young people in order to support them in a way that works for them, and allows them to achieve their potential. You will need to have an excellent understanding of SEND, have strong behaviour management skills and be proactive. Your role will involve tutoring and supporting children and ensuring that information is retained before the end of each session. You will also need to have a good base level of Maths and English in order to effectively support the children you work with through various subject matter within these areas. Any additional experience or skills such as Makaton, MAPA/Team Teach, or autism awareness training would also be advantageous.
Chalkline Education & Support are an education agency like no other - We put the pupil first, and offer a wide variety of support for the children we work with; including re-engagement & re-integration, core subjects, GCSE support and certification for functional skills, employability and wellbeing. We work with all ages between early years foundation through to post-16 with or without an EHC plan that has Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including; SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Difficulties, Autism (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) in a variety of different locations that could be a pupils home, school, public venue or residential care home.
Most assignments take place some time around typical school hours (08:30 - 16:00), and fall in line with term time. This could be for several hours on one day in the week, or an hour a day - it all depends on what is needed for that pupil. As an agency worker, you would be paid for each hour of tutoring delivered, and you will need to complete a timesheet and details reports every week for each pupil you work with.
There is no additional contribution for resources, admin time or travel, however assignments would be set within a reasonable travel distance, support with planning sessions & printable resources is there for all Tutors, and bonus schemes are in place for Tutors that consistently work above the expected standards.
