Full Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated and bustling Reception Team. As an Outpatients Chemotherapy Booker, you will be responsible for scheduling outpatient appointments, arranging chemotherapy treatments, and managing various queries. While the role can be complex and demanding, it is also diverse and rewarding, requiring exceptional organisational and communication skills. 34 hours (0.90 WTE) based at Peterborough City Hospital, Haematology/Oncology Department.

  • Main duties of the job Your role will involve liaising with patients and visitors on our main reception, using Chemocare to schedule treatments, and Careflow (PAS) to arrange follow-up appointments. You will also maintain our databases by collating essential data through Chemocare and Careflow. As a valued team member, you'll interact with both the public and hospital staff across various areas, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach. Additionally, you'll provide vital administrative assistance to support our department's efficiency.     Essential
  • Qualified to Level 2/GCSE level or equivalent which includes Maths and English
  • NVQ/BTEC Level 2 or Level 3 in Business Administration, Customer Services or equivalent experience
  • Experience Essential
  • Recent Administrative or Reception experience in a healthcare environment
  • Previous customer services experience within a busy environment working with the general public (telephone and face to face)
  • Experience of using MS Office including excel, word and outlook
  • Recent reception experience in a hospital or GP practice
  • Demonstrate an understanding of customer care/ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
  • Desirable
  • Experience of using hospital systems including Careflow (PAS), E-track
  • Experience of using a scheduling booking system i.e. ARIA/Chemo Care
  • Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of GDPR and Confidentiality
  • Desirable
  • Recent knowledge of a scheduling/booking system i.e ARIA/Chemo Care
  • Knowledge or awareness of national and local OP targets including 18 Week RTT and Cancer wait targets
  • Recent knowledge and competent use of Trust IT Systems ie Careflow (PAS), E-track
  • Key Skills Essential
  • Able to liaise with Patients, Carers, Visitors, Trust staff at all levels and various external organisations including GP Practices, Police and Prison Services
