The role also includes administering advanced dry eye therapies and providing specialist contact lens services, including the management of complex corneal conditions. You will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in refractive, corneal and therapeutic ophthalmic procedures through ongoing training and mentorship, working alongside experienced consultants and surgeons. We are looking for someone who enjoys working both autonomously and collaboratively, contributing to the sharing of clinical knowledge and the continual development of our specialist services. You will be joining a team of experienced and supportive optometrists who work closely alongside our consultant ophthalmologists. The successful candidate will maintain accurate patient records, contribute to service improvement and keep up to date with the latest research and developments in optometry and ophthalmology.

  • Degree in Optometry

  • Must hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance for the scope of clinical practice
  • Excellent clinical, diagnostic and decision-making skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centred approach
  • A genuine desire to enhance the patient experience and deliver exceptional standards of care
  • Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience using industry-standard ophthalmic equipment and electronic patient record systems
  • Ability to maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice
  • An enthusiasm for learning new skills and developing expertise in refractive surgery, dry eye management, specialist contact lenses and therapeutic ophthalmology
  • Independent Prescribing (IP) and previous experience within refractive, cataract or specialist ophthalmic practice are desirable but not essential. A willingness to learn, a positive attitude and an excellent patient manner are essential, as full training and ongoing professional development will be provided.
