Full Job Description

This interesting and challenging role involves performing diagnostic tests on patients presenting with a variety of eye conditions. This is an active hands-on job, where you will work face-to-face with patients performing vision assessments, instilling dilating eye drops and using a variety of diagnostic imaging equipment., The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of duties with respect to ophthalmic photography for the ophthalmology department, in accordance with the needs of the Trust.

You will be required to work within the multidisciplinary team in a cooperative and professional manner, ensuring the ward or department is a safe, clean and a welcoming place for patients, families and staff.

You will be expected to deliver an efficient, professional, skilled and broad range of technical services, using a wide range of equipment. You will undertake your own workload of patients, maintain associated records, and mentor junior staff where required. The post holder will be expected to attend additional training when required and maintain CPD.

A knowledge of eye anatomy and pathology, along with experience of specialist ophthalmic imaging equipment, is essential. Please refer to job description for further information about the role.

The Trust's services are provided from three locations:

The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds.o Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.o Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust employs 5,964 staff (headcount) to provide care and treatment to a population of over 400,000 people living in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire.
