As an Operations Porter, you'll play a vital role in delivering a safe and efficient transport service across the hospital - from helping patients get to their appointments to ensuring essential supplies and equipment are where they need to be. Your support will be crucial in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that underpins patient care and operational excellence.

You'll receive full training, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to make a real difference to patients, staff, and visitors every day. If you're ready to take on a rewarding role with purpose and heart, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and start your journey with Sodexo at North Devon District Hospital.

  • Move essential equipment, supplies, specimens, and medical records quickly and efficiently.

  • Support emergency procedures, including assisting with cardiac arrests and fire evacuations.

  • Carry out car park and housekeeping duties, maintaining clean and safe environments.

  • Provide a warm, reassuring presence to patients, staff, and visitors, guiding them when needed.

  • Work as part of a team to keep the hospital running smoothly, communicating effectively with colleagues and line managers.

  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and infection prevention protocols to keep everyone safe.

What you bring:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (NVQ Level 1/2 desirable).

  • Previous portering or NHS experience is an advantage but not essential - full training will be provided.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.

  • Willingness to be flexible, working weekends and evenings as required.

  • Physically fit and able to manage the demands of a busy healthcare environment, including safe lifting and handling.

  • Committed to maintaining patient dignity, confidentiality, and the highest standards of care.

What we offer:

  • Mental health and wellbeing resources.

  • Employee Assistance Programme (including financial/legal advice & personal support).

  • Free health & wellbeing app with 24/7 virtual GP access.

  • Discounts on high street brands for you and your family.

  • Salary finance tools and financial wellbeing resources.

  • Retirement savings plan and life insurance.

  • Full training and protective uniform provided.

  • Opportunities to gain experience through learning and development.

  • Cycle to Work scheme & volunteering opportunities.

  • Flexible working and a dynamic team environment.

  • Competitive pay.
