Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to lead Waste and Street Cleansing services across Nottingham, with a particular focus on supporting the delivery and implementation of the new Bulky Waste collection service. This role will manage frontline teams, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure high-performing, customer-focused service delivery across your locality and citywide initiatives. You will play a key role in coordinating operations, improving productivity, and driving service standards across cleansing and waste functions.

  • Relevant management or professional qualification, or equivalent experience in Waste, Cleansing, or Public Realm services.
  • Experience of managing large, diverse frontline teams and delivering high-quality operational services within waste, cleansing, or similar environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Waste and Street Cleansing operations, Health and Safety legislation, and operational service delivery requirements within a public sector or similar setting.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, manage performance, drive improvement, and deliver efficient, customer-focused services. Strong communication, problem-solving, and IT skills (including Microsoft 365), alongside the ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing service demands.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, residents, Councillors and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to plan resources, respond to operational challenges, and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience of managing change, implementing new services or initiatives, and driving continuous improvement across operational teams. Full UK driving licence
