Operations Manager

Job DescriptionAs Operations Manager, you will oversee the development and delivery of capital project works in line with business plans, contractual requirements and safety obligations. You will manage teams, budgets and programmes to achieve high performance, while driving improvements in quality, sustainability and customer satisfaction. The role also represents the Highway Service in meetings with Kent County Council and other stakeholders
Key ResponsibilitiesLeading the delivery of capital highways schemes (surfacing, reconstruction, structures, drainageOversee programme delivery to ensure effective workload management and service excellenceLead on health, safety and environmental performance across planned worksDevelop and improve operational plans, processes and strategiesRepresent the service in meetings with Kent County Council and stakeholder groupsMonitor client satisfaction and drive continuous quality improvementsEnsure compliance with company and authority policies, standards and proceduresOversee risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of worksManage resources, equipment and teams to meet contractual performance targetsSupport recruitment, training, staff morale and development of self-delivery workstreams
About YouExtensive experience delivering capital project works in a local authority environmentStrong budget management and cost control capabilityProven experience leading teams and managing subcontractorsStrong understanding of health, safety and statutory requirementsKnowledge of highway asset management systems and whole life costingExperience improving processes, quality compliance and operational performanceExcellent communication, organisational and time management skillsAbility to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervisionStrong experience in highway construction management or related activitiesPositive, hands on leadership style with a commitment to collaboration and continual improvement
