Full Job Description

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Operations Manager to lead and optimise operations at a well-established components manufacturing and assembly business based in Coventry. This role offers the chance to oversee both manufacturing and assembly functions on a single site, producing precision components for leading automotive and aerospace OEM customers. This is a senior position with substantial responsibility, reporting directly to the Managing Director, where you will have real autonomy to influence operational performance and contribute to the company's strategic growth plans. You will be instrumental in driving efficiency improvements, embedding best practice processes, and fostering a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement within a technically advanced manufacturing environment.,

  • Lead day-to-day operational management of manufacturing and assembly activities to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products in line with customer specifications.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous safety and quality standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the site, applying lean manufacturing techniques to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve throughput.
  • Manage and develop a talented team of supervisors and operators, providing coaching and support to foster a motivated and high-performing workforce.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, and commercial teams to align production plans with business objectives and customer demands.
  • Oversee resource planning, capacity utilisation, and equipment maintenance programmes to optimise operational efficiency.
  • Lead change management projects, including the adoption of new technologies and process upgrades to support business growth and innovation.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, quality, cost control, and delivery performance, taking proactive actions to meet or exceed targets.

    Proven track record in operations management within a manufacturing environment, ideally with experience in automotive or aerospace sectors.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrable success in driving continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities, with a hands-on approach to operational challenges.
  • Competent in managing complex production schedules and balancing competing priorities.
  • Good understanding of health and safety legislation and quality standards relevant to manufacturing.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification preferred.

    Competitive salary circa £75,000 to £80,000 per annum
