We will develop any gaps within your knowledge and encourage you to develop specialisms.YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:You will be required to work as a part of the engineering support team on current projects, dealing with operational support and faults.You will also be required to repair faults quickly or to identify and implement alternative ways of providing programme requirements to overcome technical problems and maintain the continuity of work in the production area. In addition
  • there may be occasions where you will be required to drive a pool/hire car to provide support at all/any BBC Wales sites/OBs where the individual holds a valid driving licence.You will be pro-active and seek out opportunities to further your knowledge and skills where appropriate and seek guidance and training when required.You should appreciate the technologies and systems which support BBC Wales production and transmission operations for TV and Radio.YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEIn this role you will diagnose and trouble shoot a multitude of technical issues across our broadcast infrastructure, including but not limited to Post Production, Radio Studios, TV Studios and Galleries, TV PlayoutYou should also have a good working knowledge and understanding of Macintosh systems with good experience of working on broadcast/IT systems in a live TV or multi-media environmentESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • Good Technical knowledge of at least 2 Broadcast systems, eg, AVID, DIRA, AR/VR, Radio Visualisation, Graphics (eg VizRT) and editing software solutions.
  • Experience within a television / radio broadcast environment or similar technical environment
  • Experience of studio automation and robotic systems.
  • Experience of providing successful technical solutions through to BAU Operation
  • Experience Supporting Morpheus Playout systems or similar / MCR
  • DESIRED:
  • Windows 10 Installation & Administration, Remote Administration, IIS and web hosting technologies, Jira, Ansible IT Automation, PowerShell & VB scripting Skills
  • Active Directory Understanding, Knowledge of Windows Patch management
  • A good understanding of Networking to debug network issues
  • Awareness of all aspects of Health and Safety, particularly electrical safety within broadcast environments.

    PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £40,500 to £50,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.PURPOSE OF THE ROLEBBC Wales Technology Support is the team keeping all of your favourite output on air across Wales. Our team is self motivated and customer focused. We are based at the UK's most Technologically advanced broadcast centre in the heart of Cardiff. From Radio drama to TV drama, Live Orchestra to Live news. You name it and we are across it. Our Engineers are responsible for the installation and maintenance of a wide range of systems covering all aspects of Broadcasting across Radio, Television and Online. If you want to expand your broadcast engineering skills, keen to learn and join a cutting edge team then read on.Engineers may work as part of a team or work independently to maintain the required service. They will carry out engineering tasks that are complex and for which full, priority consideration ahead of other applicants.
