  • , Operating Department Practitioner on the HCPC register OR Registered Nurse on the NMC register.

    You will be an enthusiastic and a motivated Operating Department Practitioner or Registered Nurse with Anaesthetic Training, with a passion for Trauma Care and with a commitment to own professional development, ideally with an experience of working in a busy theatre environment. Provide skilled assistance to the anaesthetist during operating procedures as required. This is an anaesthetic post, registered nurses without this training will not be eligible to apply.

  • Accredited Anaesthetic Course completed, or student due to qualify, Clear written communication
  • Ability to provide skilled assistance to the anaesthetist during operating procedures.
  • Commitment to professional development and building a skills portfolio, Developing skills in trauma, neonates and advanced airway techniques, Knowledge relevant to anaesthetic practice and theatre care, supported by the required anaesthetic training.

    We have 4 Children's theatres and 2 Obstetric theatres at the Royal London Hospital covering a diverse range of both elective and emergency work in a variety of specialties including major trauma, via the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). Our paediatric elective work includes a range of clinical specialities; ENT, Dental, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Plastics, General and Neonatal Surgery, Ophthalmology. As part of your development you will have the opportunity to work in our adult inpatient theatres on a three month rotation. During the rotation you will gain invaluable trauma experiences and increase your knowledge and skills. As an Anaesthetic Nurse/ODP in children's and obstetrics theatres you will also be rotated to work in our paediatric recovery areas, allowing our department to work together as one team.
