Full Job Description
We are looking for an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor to join our dynamic and friendly team in the Occupational Therapy service based at Bowmere Hospital, Chester.
This is a full time post on a short term contract for 3 months from July - October 2026 to cover workforce gaps.
The successful applicant will be working with adult service users, who are experiencing acute mental illness inpatient care. The Occupational Therapy service aims to support service users toward independence and safe discharge, using a person centred approach. We work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team alongside other Allied Health Professionals, Nursing, Fitness Instructors and medical colleagues.
This is an idea role for someone who enjoys being adaptable, creative and supporting others with daily living activities and leisure activities, and who has previously supported people with mental health issues.
The postholder will work as part of the Occupational Therapy team to plan and facilitate a varied programme of therapeutic activities, working in small groups or individually with service users. Our service users may have functional mental illness, or dementia. The post holder will also be contributing to daily living skills assessments and interventions, and help to maintain the Clarion Centre (Therapy department)., We have a well-resourced Therapy department and an established Therapy service, and a gym.
The successful applicants will have excellent communication and teamwork skills and enjoy working in a busy hospital environment. Applicants will be required to have evidence of relevant experience and have an understanding of person centred working and the 6 Cs.
This post is full time, Monday - Friday 8.30am -4.30pm.
