An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to join the specialist Limb Reconstruction Service at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT).

Based at Broadgreen Hospital, the successful candidate will provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for patients within the Limb Reconstruction Unit, supporting both inpatient and outpatient services. The role also includes Occupational Therapy input into Orthopaedic Trauma and Major Trauma services at Aintree University Hospital.

Working within a nationally recognised service, you will support patients with complex orthopaedic conditions, including limb salvage, bone infection, deformity correction and complex trauma. The post holder will play a key role in delivering rehabilitation and maximising functional independence throughout the patient journey., The Limb Reconstruction Unit receives referrals from across the North West for patients requiring complex fracture management, limb salvage, bone infection treatment and deformity correction using specialist surgical techniques.

The post holder will provide highly specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and rehabilitation throughout the patient pathway, supporting patients with complex physical and functional needs. Responsibilities include advanced assessment, treatment planning, splinting, equipment provision, risk management, rehabilitation and discharge planning to maximise independence and outcomes.

Working within a specialist multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical reasoning, communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to work autonomously and manage a complex caseload. They will support patients through often lengthy and challenging treatment journeys.

The role includes supervision, support and development of Band 6 Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants and students, helping to maintain high standards of practice across the service.

Working closely with physiotherapists, nurses, medical colleagues and external agencies, the post holder will contribute to service development, quality improvement, governance, audit and research activities to support continuous service improvement.

The current working pattern is Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist with substantial post-registration experience, including Orthopaedic Trauma. Candidates should demonstrate strong assessment, rehabilitation and clinical reasoning skills, alongside experience of splinting, equipment provision, discharge planning and multidisciplinary working.

The role requires the ability to manage a complex caseload, work autonomously and contribute to service development. LUHFT offers excellent professional support, clinical supervision and a wide range of learning and development opportunities.
