Full Job Description

    • Home, a place where you belong Join our Learning Disabilities Service in Newcastle as a Senior Occupational Therapist and help our customers live more independently, safely and confidently. You'll work alongside people to overcome everyday challenges, build life skills and achieve goals that matter to them. It's a rewarding role where your expertise creates real change, helping customers take part in daily life, their community and the opportunities that are important to them. You'll be joining a well established OT network and will have regular opportunities to participate in CPD, clinical development and build upon your existing skills. What you'll do
  • Carry out person-centred assessments to understand how a customer's health, abilities and environment affect their daily life and independence
  • Work with customers to set meaningful goals and create practical plans that support progress, confidence and wellbeing
  • Help customers develop skills, overcome barriers and take part in everyday activities at home and in their community
  • Provide clear occupational therapy advice and guidance to colleagues, helping them deliver consistent and effective support
  • Work closely with families, carers and partner professionals to make sure support is joined up and customer focused
  • Manage a varied caseload, review progress and maintain clear records that support safe and effective practice

  • A degree in Occupational Therapy, HCPC registration and a strong understanding of occupational therapy and person-centred practice
  • Significant experience of assessing people with physical health, mental health, cognitive, learning or communication needs
  • Great listening skills and the ability to build positive relationships that put customers at the heart of decisions.
  • Confidence working collaboratively with colleagues and partner organisations to achieve the best outcomes for customers
  • Knowledge of professional standards, clinical guidance and balanced risk management approaches.
  • A positive, solution-focused approach with a genuine passion for helping people live the life they choose

    • The practical bits
  • This is a 22.5 hour role with the flexibility to agree a working pattern across the week.
  • You will be managing your own diary and spending time with customers in their own homes, whilst also spending time working from the office and home.
  • You need an Enhanced with barring list DBS check (we pay)
