Occupational Therapist in Stroke Care

This static Band 5 Occupational Therapist opportunity is to work across the Stroke Wards at East Kent Hospitals University Foundation NHS Trust. Currently the role is based at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital but is due to move to the William Harvey Hospital in the coming years The successful applicant will be expected to work across the stroke hyperacute and acute stroke wards which consists of 50 stroke beds. It is an opportunity to develop your clinical skills in this specialist area with the support of an experienced and passionate colleagues. We offer CPD support and learning opportunities across our wider stroke and neurology workforce. We also encourage all staff to be research active and offer opportunities to be involved in clinical audit, service improvement and innovation. Applications from Students in their final year of study are very welcome., Upon joining us we will support you through your probation and your preceptorship year and will we guide you through your onward development as an Occupational Therapist. You will receive regular clinical supervision and training opportunities as well as the opportunity for band 5 peer support sessions. The expectations we have of Band 5 Occupational Therapists include:

• To assess and treat patients, providing holistic Occupational Therapy intervention as an autonomous practitioner within Scope of Practice
• Develop Occupational Therapy treatment plans, demonstrating clear clinical reasoning and goal setting.
• To be clinically curious and work within the multidisciplinary environment of the acute hospital to provide excellent intervention for patients
• To support clinical supervision of Therapy Assistants and Students where appropriate
• To be an active member of the wider therapy and AHP team and advocate for their profession where appropriate
