Full Job Description

The successful applicant will develop their skills in carrying out assessments, formulating plans and supporting a range of service users with severe and enduring mental health difficulties. The service is looking to appoint somebody who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, creative and resourceful, and who has a passion for working with people and for developing good working relationships with carers. You will have the opportunity to forge close links with the third (voluntary) sector, as well as with other specialist teams within the Trust. This is an exciting and diverse role working with a whole range of different mental health presentations. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Central Neighborhood Mental Health Team based at Mill View Hospital, Hove at a time of transformation for community mental health services. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with experience of working with people with complex health conditions in the community.,

  • Degree/Diploma in occupational therapy
  • Evidence of post graduate level study/training
  • Registration with the HPC as an occupational therapist
  • Management/Leadership training
  • Training in the use of standardised occupational therapy assessment tools, Experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health
  • Broad experience of working with clients with a range of mental health problems
  • Experience of both group and individual work
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of supervising staff and students
  • Experience as a Care Coordinator
  • Experience in a clinical area related to the post
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience in applying a range of assessment tools and a comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy clinical approaches used in mental health, Successful candidates are normally appointed to the bottom of the pay scale unless previous NHS experience in a similar role can be evidenced., You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
