Occupational Hygienist (asbestos, noise, legionella, radiation) Salary - Competitive, dependent on experience Location - Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN16 1XA Pattern of Work - 36.5 hours, Monday - Friday What you need to know about the role We are thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Occupational Hygienist holding or working towards BOHS qualifications to join our vibrant Occupational Hygiene Team within the Health, Safety, and Environment Department at our Scunthorpe site. If you have industrial experience, that's a plus, but it's your expertise and passion for safety that we value most! As an Occupational Hygienist, you will play a key role in managing and controlling asbestos, COSHH, noise, radiation and legionella. Your expertise will be essential in helping us prevent ill health in the workplace, ensuring compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, the COSHH Regulations 2002, the Noise at Work Regulations 2017 and HSG274 The Control of Legionella Bacteria, supporting the health and safety of our workforce. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct/learn to conduct asbestos management, refurbishment, and demolition surveys, producing detailed technical reports. Conduct/learn to conduct atmospheric/exposure monitoring in line with the COSHH Regulations, producing detailed technical reports. Conduct/learn to conduct noise monitoring in line with the Noise at Work Regulations, producing detailed technical reports. Manage and maintain the Asbestos and Occupational Hygiene databases. Advise and support plant areas on all aspects of Occupational Hygiene management and compliance, including COSHH, Noise, Asbestos, Radiation and Legionella. Work closely with contractors and external service providers to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. Collaborate with senior leaders and other stakeholders to ensure that occupational hygiene management strategies are aligned with company goals. Assist with H&S auditing and
participate in safety conversations to maintain a proactive safety culture. Provide training to plant personnel, ensuring they remain competent and compliant with regulations. What we need to know about you Essential Qualifications: BOHS qualifications (or equivalent), or working towards. A UK driving license. Desirable Qualifications: BOHS P402, BOHS P601, BOHS S301/W504, BOHS W501, BOHS W505, BOHS W507, BOHS W503. Experience and Knowledge: Occupational Hygiene / Radiation Protection Supervisor / Legionella management experience is highly advantageous. Analytical with a keen eye for detail. Previous experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment is highly advantageous. Skills and Competencies: Strong computer literacy with a willingness to learn new IT systems. Ability to make informed decisions and communicate potential challenges to key decision-makers. Eagerness to expand knowledge and grow within other areas of Occupational
Hygiene.
