Full Job Description
To work both autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to deliver a high quality, effective and efficient self-referral Occupational Health Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service for Trust staff.
To formulate individualised treatment plans with SMART goals using a range of clinical treatment skills taking into account the current evidence-base and the individual needs of the patient.
To maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of any new trends and developments, and incorporate them as necessary into your work.
To be an active member of the Group Occupational Health MSK Team participating in in service training programme by attendance at/or participation in in-service training programmes, presentations and training sessions, staff meetings, tutorials, training sessions in house and by attending external courses and practising reflective practice.
To undertake the measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices through the use of Evidence Based Practice projects, audit, research and outcome measures, either individually or with colleagues or with clinical specialist or manager. Make recommendations for change.
To contribute to improving the MSK health & wellbeing of Trust staff and developing effective strategies to reduce the risk of and prevent MSK injuries.
To refer to other services in a timely manner as indicated.
Main duties of the job
To be professional, legally responsible, and accountable for all aspects of your work, including the management of patients in your care. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management, and support other staff to do likewise.
with a complex neuro-musculoskeletal presentation, using investigative and analytical skills, formulating individualised management and treatment plans, using advanced clinical reasoning, and utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care.
To respect staff/patient confidentiality at all times and not divulge staff information unless sanctioned by the requirements of the role.
To provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching, and instruction to the wider Trust employees and other professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy, and to ensure a consistent approach to patient care.
To provide specialist advice, teaching and training to other members of the MDT regarding the physiotherapy management of patients with a musculoskeletal disorder.
To train, supervise and performance manage students when appropriate. This will include the use of formal appraisal documentation.
Carry out assessment and treatment of patients with moderate physical effort on a daily basis.
The job may involve occupational exposure to verbal and physical aggression.
