Full Job Description

As an OH Specialist Nurse you will provide OH clinical expertiseand support the development of the OH Service.

You will support the Senior OH Specialist Nursein theday-to-dayclinical activityproviding leadership for the OH clinical teamincluding managementof recruitment, retention, and appraisals (Bands4-5 )and workingcollaboratively withthe Nurse Manager to ensureappropriate serviceprovision.

You will work(initiallyunder the supervision ofthe OHSenior SpecialistNurse) toprovide Groupemployees to support and pathways for physical and mentalworkplace healthissues and in some cases refer onwards asappropriate tothe MSKSpecialist Physiotherapist, The OH Consultant Physicians or to the Clinical HealthPsychologists.

Main duties of the job

Responsibility for the day-to-dayclinicalactivity andproviding leadership forthe juniorOH clinical teamincluding managementof recruitment, retention, and appraisals (Bands4-5)and workingcollaboratively withthe Nurse Manager to ensureappropriate serviceprovision.

Managing own clinical caseload and clinics with specialist knowledge,receiving,interpreting,and presentinghighly sensitivepatient clinical information to develop carepathways.

Liaising directly with Consultants/ Physicians/Senior Managers in specialist services including infection prevention, microbiology, haematology, respiratory medicine, sexual health, health and safety and community-based specialist general practitioners.

Responsibility fora specific caseload of high-level new employment screenings making decisions as to their fitness for their employment. Attend case management meetings to provide specialist knowledge and advice in relation to fitness for work and post sickness rehabilitation.

Supporting,evaluatingand implementing actions and make recommendations for the rehabilitation and resettlement of staff returning to work following accidents or prolonged illness at work and provide advice on the reasonable adjustmentsrequiredfor them in their workplace.

Supporting the work of the department byparticipatingwith innovation and service improvement and utilising electronic systemsinsteadof paper records wherepossible.
