Occasional Lecturer - Prison Education

Milton Keynes College Prison Services Team at HMP Exeter and HMP Channings Wood are seeking engaging Teachers/Tutors to work with a diverse group of prison-based learners, helping to develop their skills and achieve within a college environment. The College are looking for candidates interested in ad-hoc or permanent hours, who are keen to explore Prison Education. Many learners have a diverse range of needs and may have had negative experiences of education in the past. Your role is to inspire confidence, rebuild their relationship with learning, and create a positive, supportive classroom environment. We are currently looking for individuals with one or more of the below skillsets to support the curriculum delivery, A teaching qualification would be desirable, however those willing to work towards a teaching qualification who hold supporting subject specialism or industry quals/experience will also be considered - we can provide the training to help you achieve your full potential. Who better to teach our learners than those who have worked directly in the industries!

• Vocational Subjects - Health and Safety, Construction, Multi-skills, Property Maintenance, Warehousing, Music, (Hourly paid, part time, full time)
• Functional Skills English - Entry to Level 2 (Hourly paid cover)
• Functional Skills Maths - Entry to Level 2 (Hourly paid cover), For our Occasional Workers (hourly paid cover) - Adaptability and interest in covering multiple subjects/locations is welcomed. Hourly paid opportunities can be varying and change frequently so flexible availability is essential. Requirements can range from short notice short term cover to longer term sickness cover or recruitment gaps and anything in between. If you hold qualifications or expertise in more than one area or are able to travel to more than one prison, this could give you the opportunity to cover across multiple courses/sites and as a result the potential for more hours.
