Oak Field Outreach (Physical) Moving and Handling Training Officer

We are seeking to appoint a proactive, enthusiastic and experienced/quick-learning Moving and Handling Training Officer, with a strong background/interest in the field of Physical Disability and SEND. The post holder will work under the direction of the Oak Field Outreach Higher Level Moving and Handling Training Officer to enable children and young people with a physical disability to access learning in mainstream schools and pre-school settings in Nottingham City. This is a permanent part-time post.

The service would welcome applications from experienced IOSH-accredited candidates, but would also be very interested to hear from candidates with a strong background in moving and handling who would consider themselves confident and competent enough to undertake the 5-day IOSH training and to be able to perform effectively in this role very swiftly. Under the direction of the Higher Level Moving and Handling Training Officer, the focus of this post is to co-design, review, develop, deliver and evaluate Moving and Handling training for colleagues in mainstream settings who are supporting children and young people with PD. It is also to provide in-school advice and support to these mainstream settings, which includes writing, reviewing and evaluating pupil-specific Moving and Handling Plans, and offering follow-up advice, guidance and training for staff, as appropriate, to ensure safe moving and handling practice. The Outreach team actively promotes effective multi-disciplinary team partnerships, and has a responsibility to provide and maintain specialist equipment. The postholder will be expected to observe the school's and the Outreach service's policies and procedures, including Safeguarding and Health and Safety; they will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check. As this post involves travelling between schools, it is essential that the post holder has their own car, and a current driving licence; claimed mileage will be reimbursed.

Working hours for this post are 8.20am-4.20pm, with 30 minutes unpaid lunchbreak.
