Nurture Teacher

At St James Primary School, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, understood, valued and successful. We are delighted to be launching our new Nurture Hub, an exciting Local Authority-funded project designed to provide early intervention and specialist support for some of our most vulnerable children. We are seeking a warm, skilled and enthusiastic teacher to lead this new provision and help shape its development from the very beginning. This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting difference to children's lives while working within a supportive and forward-thinking school community. About the Nurture Hub Our Nurture Hub will be developed to support a small group of Reception and Year 1 children who experience significant social, emotional and neurodevelopmental needs that can make accessing mainstream education challenging. The provision aims to help children develop emotional regulation, increase school engagement, improve attendance and successfully reintegrate into their mainstream classrooms. Working alongside an experienced Teaching Assistant, you will lead learning and therapeutic nurture provision for a small group of children each morning. You will play a central role in helping children build positive relationships, develop self-regulation strategies and grow in confidence, enabling them to access wider school life successfully. The Role As Nurture Hub Lead, you will:

• Deliver high-quality teaching and nurture-based support to a small group of pupils.
• Create a safe, predictable and nurturing environment where children can thrive.
• Support children's social, emotional and developmental needs through relationship-based practice.
• Develop individual targets and reintegration plans for children accessing the provision.
• Work closely with the Teaching Assistant, class teachers, SENDCo, senior leaders and external professionals.
• Monitor progress in emotional wellbeing, engagement, attendance and learning.
• Help establish the systems, routines and approaches that will underpin this new and exciting provision.
  
  Has experience teaching young children, particularly within EYFS or Key Stage 1.
• Has a strong understanding of SEND, including children with complex social, emotional and neurodevelopmental needs.
• Is nurturing, patient, reflective and resilient.
• Builds positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
• Is passionate about inclusion and believes every child can succeed with the right support.
• Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
Experience of nurture groups, SEMH provision, trauma-informed practice or therapeutic approaches would be advantageous but is not essential.
