Nursing Associate in Critical Care

The Critical Care Nursing Associate will be responsible for monitoring and contributing to the care of critically ill patients under the indirect supervision of registered nurses. With training and support, you will provide both general and specialised direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols. You will play a vital role in monitoring and managing patients with life-threatening conditions. Your main duties will include: - - Providing high-quality nursing care to patients admitted to critical care and offering support to their loved ones, ensuring safe and effective practice - Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to provide continuous care to a specific group of patients from admission to discharge - Supervising and mentoring other staff members and learners as appropriate - Maintaining and developing your personal skills with ongoing support Additional working pattern details: Working internally across site, including days, nights and weekends, Provision of compassionate, safe and effective care and support to patients in the critical care setting Monitor the condition and health needs of patients on a continual basis in partnership with patients, families and carers, ensuring appropriate escalation to a registered nurse Provide effective evidence based care under the supervision of registered nurses in order to perform complex and non-complex activities Recognise the effects of medicines, allergies, drug sensitivity, side effects, contraindications and adverse reactions Undertake safe and effective administration and optimisation of medicines in accordance with Trust policy and the NMC Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates Monitor the condition and health needs of patients within their care following administration of medications Comply with Trust policy in relation to any safety critical medicines to be administered by Nursing Associates. Support, supervise, teach (where appropriate) and act as a role model to trainee nursing associates, student nurses, healthcare support workers and new staff members, promoting reflection and providing constructive feedback Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team To engage in a preceptorship period that includes achieving the Nursing Associate Medicines Management Competency framework Maintain own continuing professional development in accordance with NMC CPD requirements and contribute to formulation of own objectives and personal development plan Adopt a reflective approach to own practice with a view to continually improve Undertake further training as required, prior to carrying out any additional duties identified as relevant to role, to comply with Trust policies and procedures Develop knowledge and practice in any area of work required by the role Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others in own work area Maintain clear and accurate written records relevant to practice Additional contract details: Working across both GHNHSFT sites - CGH & GRH Additional working pattern details: Working internally across site, including days, nights and weekends

• Post registration experience in an acute care setting within medicine, surgery or equivalent
• Experience of managing acutely ill patients in a ward setting, Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate
• Excellent presentational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
• Demonstrates knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for support and advice
• Able to identify limitations of own competency and undertake Continuous Professional Development to maintain competencies and skills including all mandatory training.
