Nursery Worker

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated nursery practitioner to join our team at Early Birds Nursery at Long Ashton. We are an all year round, local authority-maintained setting, that is open from 8am - 6pm.

Within this role, you will be supported by an experienced Room Lead, Deputy and Nursery Manager as well as having many professional development opportunities to develop new skills and be immersed in evidence-informed practice.

In this role, you will:

Actively contribute and support high quality care and education to children aged 0-5 years attending the nursery, ensuring developmental needs are met.

Working positively in partnership with parents/carers whilst creating a safe and nurturing environment as part of the nursery team.

Key Responsibilities:

To assist with the planning of our curriculum and delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework; providing safe, creative, and inclusive opportunities for children to learn and progress; organising equipment, setting up and facilitating provocations/ activities.

To take a lead on an area of the Nursery provision. For example: an area of learning and development across the Nursery - supporting provision, experiences, and knowledge.

To act as a Keyworker to a group of children, under the guidance of the Room Lead, liaising closely with parents/carers to ensure needs are met and progress is made.

To be responsible for ensuring observations of children's learning and development takes place and that the team are determining the most appropriate next steps (ensuring holistic practice is always considered).

To ensure activities are carried out safely and responsibly in accordance with statutory requirements, informing management of concerns.

To follow all policies and procedures and to be mindful of risk assessments throughout day-to-day duties.

To take a lead on ensuring the provision in the room is of an outstanding quality, supporting and contributing to the settings quality improvement and documentation of children's learning experiences.

To promote positive values, attitudes, including British Values and child behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts and encouraging children to independently find solutions/become problem solvers.

The work requires kneeling, bending and crouching for periods of time, lifting/holding children during planned activities, preparing snacks, cleaning and changing nappies/toileting duties.
