Job Description
Do you have experience working as an Assistant Chef? Would you like a new and exciting role in a fast paced but warm nursery environment? At Blossom Tree Montessori, we are recruiting for an Assistant Chef to join our nursery in Northwood Hills. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and hard working to provide healthy and nutritious meals for our children. This is a permanent role and hours can be discussed.
We are in a very convenient location on Joel Street. The station is only a 7 minute walk away and there is a bus stop right outside the nursery. We offer:
- 28 days holiday per year including time at Easter and Christmas and Bank Holidays
- One extra day's holiday per year increasing with each year of service
- One day's extra holiday on your birthday each year!

Responsibilities and Duties
- Assisting the Head Chef with cooking, preparation and the running of the kitchen.
- Preparing and cooking for up to 112 children per day.
- Following procedures to ensure that allergies, intolerances and preferences are taken into consideration for all children.
- Maintain the hygiene standards in the kitchen, ensuring the daily and weekly cleaning duties are complete.
- Ensuring all the Food Safety documents are updated daily.
- Follow procedures relating to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
- Ensure cleaning materials are stored safely and records are kept up to date.
- Ordering of food on a weekly basis.
- Training of new staff in the kitchen.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Experience of working in a Nursery or School kitchen is essential.
- Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate is essential.
- NVQ Level 1 and 2 Chef training is essential.
- Hard-working, good time management skills and can work well on their own and as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- We take safeguarding very seriously and a current and clean Disclosure Barring Services (DBS) Certificate is essential.
