Full Job Description

As a bank Nuclear Medicine Technician, you will assist with the Nuclear Medicine service at KIMS ensuring a high standard of service is provided to patients, consultant users and visitors to the hospital This a bank role and is therefore a zero hours contract working flexibly to cover holiday, absence and fluctuating hospital volumes. Role Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the day to day delivery and on-going development of a comprehensive nuclear medicine service within in accordance with the National Minimum Standards and Regulations of Independent Health Care.
  • Advise when required the clinical indications, limitations, assessments, or risks of diagnostic applications of radioactive materials.
  • Check and approve the quality of diagnostic images before patients are discharged.
  • To meet in full the requirements of the Ionising Radiation Regulations (2017) and IR(ME)R 2017, the Outside Workers (1993) Regulations, the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations (1988), Data Protection Act (1984) and any subsequent legislation.
  • Enforce radiation protection standards for patients and staff.
  • Advise when required the clinical indications, limitations, assessments, or risks of diagnostic and therapeutic applications of radioactive materials.
  • Check and approve the quality of diagnostic images before patients are discharged.
  • Enforce radiation protection standards for patients and staff.
  • Monitor clean-up and safe handling of radioactive materials to ensure that established procedures are followed.
  • Assist with cardiovascular nuclear medicine procedures such as exercise testing and pharmacologic stress testing., Take reassurance from knowing that your interviewer can often be as nervous as you. Be polite, honest and open, maintaining eye contact with them. Talk as clearly and confidently as you can and if you don't understand a question, ask for clarification. When answering, focus on positive experiences and be prepared to go into detail about your previous positions and your future aspirations.

    BSc or equivalent qualification in Clinical Technology, specialising in Nuclear Medicine or BSc Radiography with postgraduate qualification in Nuclear Medicine
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and/or Registry of Clinical Technologist (RCT)
  • Clinical experience minimum 5 Years within a NHS Trust Hospital
  • Knowledge of clinical and corporate governance and its application
  • SPECT CT Imaging
  • Experience on GE NM/CT
  • Patient orientated with a focus on continuous service improvement
  • Energetic, achievement focused and willing to work hard under pressure
  • Strong team building skills with a collaborative approach to achieving goals
  • Demonstrate ability to build working partnerships with Consultants within the values of this clinician led organisation.
  • Genuine interest in the continuous development of self and other team members.
