Introduction

The Nursery Practitioner Apprentice is responsible for assisting in delivering high-quality early years education and care, supporting children’s learning and development in a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment. This role involves planning activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). 



About the Employer

Huish Nurseries @ North Town Primary School is a well-established, friendly nursery dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children aged 2 -4 years old, open 49 weeks of the year from 8:00am- 6:00pm Monday to Friday.

We believe in creating a safe, stimulating, and fun environment where children can explore, learn, and develop at their own pace.



What You'll Do

  • Assist with Childcare: Provide care and supervision for children aged 2 - 4 years, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and development
  • Learning Activities: Assist in the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and physical development
  • Meal and Snack Assistance: Help with meal and snack preparation, serving food, and ensuring children’s dietary requirements are met
  • Hygiene and Safety: Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and safety throughout the nursery
  • Supervision: Monitor and guide children during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe and fun environment
  • Communication: Support children in developing social skills and communication, encouraging positive interactions with peers and staff
  • Record Keeping: Help with observing and recording children’s development, supporting assessments and reports as required by the nursery staff
  • Learning and Development: Participate in training sessions, workshops, and reflective practice to develop skills and knowledge related to child development and early years education
  • Support the Team: Collaborate with other team members to provide a nurturing and engaging environment for children
  • Provide a warm, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere for children and families
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities that support children's developmental milestones
  • Observe, assess, and record children's progress to ensure they are reaching their full potential
  • Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating setting, adhering to health and safety policies
  • Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures of the nursery
  • Work collaboratively and enthusiastically with a team to ensure high standards of care and education
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers, keeping them informed about their child's progress
