Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Non-Resident Fellow to join our Medical team at The London Clinic located in Central London (Close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations). You will be joining a team of 4 Resident Fellows (RMOs) who provide 24/7 provision for the all the non-cancer non haematology beds, alongside the non resident general fellows., Work closely and collaboratively with the Clinical Site Team, Modern Matrons, AHP and Nursing teams, as well as the ITU Fellows, Outreach team, Oncology Fellows and other Speciality Clinical Fellows. Provide clinical support to the relevant Consultants, and be responsible for the clinical care of patients ensuring all in-patients on your allocated ward/s are reviewed daily and undertaking documentation, escalation when needed, as well as ensuring fluids / antibiotics etc are written up, and supporting discharge planning and notifications and writing up TTO's. Ensure safe, high-quality care is delivered across The London Clinic. Ensure high quality timely and effective communication with consultants and other colleagues (ensuring compliance with information governance) Attendance at the 8am safety huddle between RMOs & Fellows, and 10.30am resus / safety huddle and evening handover. Ensure before leaving that all patients under your care have been reviewed and any concerns handed over to the Resident RMO. Ensure all records are accurately maintained and utilised, including manual and computerised records for reporting and audit procedures. Contribute to audit, Quality Improvement workstreams, M&M, Risk, Complaints and Quality meetings and the reports / investigations that feed these meetings working with Divisional Clinical Director, Medical Director and Resident RMOs, Non-Resident Fellow General (0.4 WTE / ~17.5 Hours per Week) You will work alongside a team of Non-Resident General Fellows and, collectively, provide ward-based care across designated areas to ensure all patients receive regular clinical review (typically covering two wards between the team). The cancer and haematology service is supported separately by a team of 4 Non-Resident Fellows (5.0 WTE total) working Monday to Friday. Oncology services are delivered by 4 Resident Oncology Fellows, supported by Non-Resident medical staff (2 Oncology and 34 Haematology Fellows). In addition, there is continuous resident cover provided by an Intensive Care Fellow. This role is designed to support flexible and portfolio careers. In addition to the 0.4 WTE working pattern, there is the option to explore a job-share or alternating week model (e.g. one week on clinical service, one week off), particularly suited to candidates undertaking postgraduate study such as an MD or PhD. Job Profile As a Non-Resident General Clinical Fellow, you will provide high-quality care to patients across medical and surgical ward areas within The London Clinic. You will be allocated specific wards and will:
- Conduct daily ward rounds alongside the Nurse in Charge, Pharmacy, and AHP teams
- Support patient management, escalation, and discharge planning
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care, Working patterns are flexible and agreed in advance, typically including:
- 2 working days per week (8am5pm), or
- a job-share / alternating week arrangement Pro-rata requirements:
- Attendance at 8am morning safety huddle
- Participation in evening handover (5pm) on working days
- Optional Saturday working (pro-rata, approximately 1 in 10, 9am1pm, if required) There may also be the opportunity to further tailor working patterns to support higher degrees or research commitments. We actively support:

- Monthly in-house CPD sessions
- Monthly Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) meetings Our medical team is committed to flexible working and welcomes informal discussions or visits.,
- Work collaboratively with the Clinical Site Team, Modern Matrons, AHPs, Nursing teams, ITU Fellows, Outreach team, Oncology Fellows, and other Specialty Fellows
- Provide clinical support to Consultants and take responsibility for patient care on allocated wards
- Ensure all inpatients are reviewed regularly, including: + Clear documentation + Timely escalation where required + Prescribing (fluids, antibiotics, etc.) + Discharge planning and TTO completion
- Deliver safe, high-quality care across the organisation
- Maintain effective communication with consultants and colleagues, ensuring compliance with information governance
- Attend safety huddles and handovers as part of the clinical team
- Ensure all patients are reviewed prior to leaving and appropriately handed over to the Resident RMO
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records for audit and reporting
- Contribute to: + Audit and Quality Improvement initiatives + M&M meetings + Risk, complaints, and governance processes
- Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice
- MBBS (or equivalent)
- ALS or ILS certification Essential experience:
- Experience at Core Trainee / Registrar level
- NHS experience within medical, surgical, or related specialties You will demonstrate:
- Ability to recognise and manage acutely unwell patients (including NEWS and escalation processes)
- Competence in interpreting blood results, ECGs, blood gases, and imaging
- Clinical experience in managing: + Sepsis + Bleeding + Diabetes + Acute kidney injury + Neurological and multi-organ dysfunction
- Understanding of escalation frameworks (e.g. SBAR)
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance, Duty of Candour, and GMC Good Medical Practice
- Strong clinical decision-making, time management, and prescribing skills
- A professional, approachable, and collaborative communication style

Salary: £52,000£65,000 per annum (pro-rata), depending on skills and experience Benefits Package - Contributory pension scheme (total annual contribution up to 20%)
