Non-Executive Director - Commercial & Finance, Institute of Swimming

You will provide independent oversight, insight and constructive challenge, contributing to the Institute's strategy, financial sustainability and long-term success., In this role, you will:

• Fulfil the legal responsibilities of a company Director.
• Contribute to organisational strategy, governance and Board decision-making.
• Monitor performance, financial sustainability and key risks.
• Provide strategic guidance on commercial performance, income generation and growth.
• Support the Board in assessing commercial and financial opportunities and risks.
• Contribute to discussions on pricing, product development, customer value and market positioning.
• Provide insight into budgeting, forecasting and the effective use of resources.
• Support the evaluation of significant investments and commercial initiatives.
• Support and constructively challenge the Chair and Senior Executive Lead.
• Consider the interests of learners, employers, volunteers, clubs and other stakeholders.
• Promote the values, reputation and inclusive culture of the Institute of Swimming.
• Balance commercial ambition with Swim England's wider purpose., This is a voluntary appointment for an initial four-year term, with the possibility of a second four-year term.
The expected commitment is approximately half a day per month, including four online Board meetings each year, preparation, engagement with the Senior Executive Lead and occasional stakeholder representation.

We are looking for someone with:
• Senior commercial, financial or business leadership experience.
• Experience developing and delivering commercial growth strategies.
• A strong understanding of financial performance and organisational sustainability.
• The ability to evaluate commercial opportunities, risks and investment decisions.
• Experience gained through a senior leadership, executive, non-executive or professional role.
• The ability to exercise independent judgement and provide constructive challenge.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication and influencing skills.
• High standards of integrity and ethical conduct.
• A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• A collaborative approach and the confidence to support and challenge appropriately.
An interest in education, workforce development, leisure, sport or a related sector would be valuable.
