Full Job Description
Can you help shape how digital technology improves care for 850,000 people? Join our Board as a Non-Executive Director and bring yourexpertisein digital, data or technology to the decisions that matter for patients and staff.
You will provide independent oversight and constructive challenge on our digital agenda, including electronic patient record readiness, cyber resilience, information governance, data quality and the safe use of automation and artificial intelligence.
This is an opportunity to help ensure that digital investment improves patient safety, care, staffexperienceand value for money.
Interviews are expected to take place towards the end of November 2026.
As a voting member of our unitary Board, you will work with executive andNon-Executivecolleagues to set strategic direction, scrutinise performance and risk, and seek assurance on delivery.
You willprovideexpert support andchallengeto ensure thatdigital programmes are clinically led, user focused,inclusiveand aligned with the Trust's strategy. You will help the Board assess electronic patient recordplans,cyber and information governance risks, digitalinvestmentand the benefits delivered for patients and staff.
You will also contribute to the Board's wider responsibilities for quality, finance, workforce and governance, and work with our Council of Governors and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will bring senior experience in digital, data, technology, cyber security, information governance, digitaltransformationor major technology-enabled change in a large, complex organisation.
You will be able to scrutinise major programmes, technology risk, investmentdecisionsand benefits realisation. You will understand how electronic patient records, interoperability, dataqualityand digital tools affect safety,qualityand service delivery. You will be confident interpreting complex assurance reports and translating technical issues into clear, constructive questions at Board level.
You will bring independent judgement, sound ethics and a commitment to digital inclusion, equality and safe,high qualitycare. Transferable experience from outside the NHS is welcome;previousNHS Board experience is not essential.
The appointment is subject to the Trust being satisfied that the successful candidate meets the fit and proper persons requirements for directors.
