Full Job Description

We're seeking compassionate, adaptable people to join our Bournemouth service as a Night Worker. You'll bring a passion for supporting people to build confidence, develop essential life skills, and recognise their own strengths and support needs through positive, meaningful interactions.

As the ideal candidate, your ability to connect with adults and care leavers will help them build trust, resilience, and a sense of possibility for their future. You'll understand safeguarding, work proactively within our policies, and contribute to a strong, collaborative team environment. Our Night Worker roles are support-based, focused on guidance, encouragement, and empowering clients to achieve their goals. The work can be challenging, but also truly rewarding - made even more so by the supportive, values-driven team you'll be part of. Night Worker Essentials:

  • A genuine interest and concern for homelessness and related issues
  • Ability to positively contribute to a team
  • Deal promptly and effectively with challenging situations/crises in a calm manner
  • Strong communication skills, clear verbal and written English
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Night Worker Desirables:
  • Experience of managing a caseload of clients
  • Understanding of risk assessment and person-centred, outcomes-based delivery
  • Awareness of the support needs of people experiencing homelessness or those with complex needs
  • Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies, housing regulations and the benefits system

We were formed in April 2001 through the merger of the Society of St Dismas (founded in 1962) and St Petroc Housing association (founded in 1972). Both organisations shared a passion for housing and supporting vulnerable single people.
  • Our vision today is to give people who are homeless, vulnerable or in need of support, the opportunity to build a brighter future. We have services in Berkshire, Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and Sussex. We support 16-65 year olds. Our services include outreach to rough sleepers, supported accommodation (direct access hostels, move-on accommodation, and resettlement flats), day centres, community support, housing first and landlord support services.
