Plumpton College is seeking a reliable, hardworking and flexible Night Cleaner to join the Estates team and help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment across the College site.

This is an important hands-on role supporting the daily cleaning of residential, office, educational and recreational areas, ensuring high standards are maintained for staff, students and visitors.

About the Role
As a Night Cleaner, you will work as part of a small team and be responsible to the Estates Manager for carrying out cleaning duties across designated areas of the College. You will follow priority cleaning schedules, maintain site presentation to a high standard, and support the smooth running of College facilities.

You will also assist with reporting maintenance issues, room set-up, portering tasks and accommodation preparation, while ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.

You will:

Maintain designated areas to a high standard of cleanliness as agreed with the Estates Manager.

Work to priority cleaning schedules across residential, office, educational and recreational spaces.

Empty wastepaper receptacles and dispose of waste appropriately.

Report any damage or maintenance requirements identified during the course of your duties.

Assist, by agreement, with catering functions and accommodation preparation.

Support portering, room set-up and similar duties requiring good manual handling skills.

Use cleaning materials and equipment efficiently to achieve high standards.

Always follow College health and safety policies and safe working practices.

Participate in safety procedures, including risk assessment reviews and the development of safe working practices.

Maintain effective communication with colleagues and attend departmental or staff meetings where required.

Contribute to College marketing and promotional activities, including occasional Friday night event set-up support.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently and as part of a team, and is committed to maintaining a safe, clean and professional environment.

About You
We are looking for a practical, dependable and motivated individual who can bring a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a flexible approach to this role.

Essential:

Practical experience of following cleaning plans to a high standard.

Ability to prioritise tasks and organise your own workload effectively.

Ability to complete all tasks thoroughly and to a high standard, with a strong commitment to site presentation.

Excellent awareness of safe working procedures and the ability to identify improvements across tasks.

Physically fit and able to carry out practical duties involving manual handling throughout the working day.

A good understanding of, and empathy with, young people, with the ability to challenge inappropriate behaviour and set a professional example.

A flexible approach to duties and working hours, including occasional unplanned maintenance-related situations.

Experience of working with minimal supervision.

Ability to record and maintain clear records of building and equipment checks.

Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.

You will be reliable, thorough and safety-conscious, with a positive attitude and a willingness to support the wider needs of the College.

At Plumpton College, we live our values-Professional, Supportive, Enterprising, Passionate, Ambitious and Progressive-in everything we do.

You'll benefit from:

Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, which includes life assurance cover and employer pension contributions. Access to continuous professional development, planned and agreed with your line manager. Also, there is free onsite parking.

Employees also enjoy a range of lifestyle and wellbeing benefits such as eligibility for a TOTUM card and Blue Light Card, free eye tests, free use of our onsite gym, cycle-to-work scheme, discounted Plumpton wine and courses, free onsite parking, and an Employee Assistance Programme.

Our commitment to staff wellbeing and community is further demonstrated through regular networking events, active EDI and Sustainability committees and social events at Christmas.

Some flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the business, including occasional evening and weekend working to support College and commercial events.
