Full Job Description
Castle Gate is a short break service for children and young people with special education needs, disabilities and complex health needs. We provide overnight stays and day care opportunities for up to six young people per day. We are looking for flexible and dynamic individual, passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people to join our team. Role and Responsibilities As a Night Care Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people during the night hours
- Attending to the physical, emotional, and wellbeing needs of children and young people throughout the night
- Providing personal care and support to children and young people, including assistance with hygiene, dressing, and bedtime routines
- Contributing to the overall care and support of children and young people, promoting their independence and personal development
- Working collaboratively with the care team to ensure high standards of care are maintained, This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies. This role involves regulated activity with adults at risk. As such, appointment is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with the relevant Barred List(s). In this post you will be required tomaintain continuous registration with the DBS Update Service for the duration of your employment. - Previous experience in a care or support role, working with children and young people with Special Education Needs and disabilities
- Experience of working with children and young people with complex health needs
- Experience of working with children and young people with challenging behaviour
- Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by children and young people in a residential care setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships
- Empathy, patience, and a caring nature
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently
- A NVQ 3/Diploma level 3 or equivalent qualification in Residential Child Care is required for this position. A full induction, supervision and training will be provided.
