Full Job Description

This role is for a fixed term NHS Locum Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership for the Roding inpatient ward based at St Margaret's Hospital Epping Essex. The Consultant will provide medical leadership for multidisciplinary team comprising of resident doctors, ward nursing team, psychiatrists, CPN's, OT and psychologist. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the ward managers and the wider MDT to provide a safe and effective service. The Consultant will also be expected to work closely with the relevant community teams and contribute to providing an effective care pathway for patients across the service. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician (RC) for patients under their care on Roding ward for patients detained under the Mental Health Act. The post holder will be expected to carry out the duties expected of an RC knowledgably and in a timely manner. The post holder will be expected to be knowledgeable of the Mental Capacity Act and be proficient at applying it appropriately to patient care., The post holder will have responsibility for the clinical care of those patients admitted to the in-patient unit on the ward. The post holder will also be expected to work closely with the team and the ward manager to ensure the provision of an effective service. You must have full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register, with an appropriate CCT or equivalent or be within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of the AAC.
