Full Job Description
The Fair Credit Charity is looking to appoint two new Trustees to help strengthen our Board as we enter the next stage of the Charity's development.
We are the charitable parent and sole owner of Fair for You Enterprise CIC, an established responsible lender which has supported more than 100,000 families across the UK through more than £90 million of affordable lending. Fair for You has its own Board and Executive responsible for its strategy and regulated operations; the Charity's role is to be an effective and responsible charitable owner, ensuring that the CIC remains aligned with our charitable purpose, values and commitment to public benefit.
As a Trustee, you will share responsibility for the governance and strategic direction of the Charity. You will contribute independent judgement, constructive challenge and professional expertise, helping us oversee the CIC through the lenses of purpose, values and social impact, while also considering how the Charity can use its evidence and experience to contribute to wider thinking about financial exclusion.
Across the two appointments, we are particularly looking for significant experience in one or more of finance and accountancy; business and commercial leadership; charity governance and compliance; and influencing, public affairs or public policy.
Previous Trustee experience is not essential. We are more interested in people who can understand evidence and Board papers, ask thoughtful and sometimes difficult questions, exercise sound independent judgement and actively contribute around the Board table.
We also want to broaden the perspectives represented on our Board and particularly welcome applications from people whose backgrounds and experiences are under-represented in charity governance and financial services leadership.
The appointment is for a three-year term. The Board ordinarily meets three times a year, predominantly virtually, with occasional face-to-face meetings or strategy sessions. The overall commitment is approximately four to six days per year. The role is voluntary and unpaid, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.
We are looking for Trustees who want to contribute, challenge and help us make sure financial services work better for people who currently have the fewest choices.
