Neuroradiology Nurse

We are a friendly team of nurses, radiographers, radiologists and radiology assistants delivering a high standard of care. The unique and varied nature of the speciality means that there is always something new and interesting to learn. Your role is to work as a scrub or a circulating nurse in our angiography suites as well as admitting and looking after our day case patients in the unit., As a senior member of the neuroradiology nursing team you will demonstrate compassionate leadership and commitment to evidence-based high standard of nursing care. We work closely with our anaesthetic colleagues as well as our colleagues from University of Oxford, stroke department and Neurosciences. Scope of the role:

• Provide exceptional patient care which is underpinned by evidence based practice and OUH values.
• Scrub and circulating nurse duties in our angiography suites.
• Work in partnership with the patients' family and friends to be actively involved in the caring process on behalf of the patient.
• To ensure that patients and relatives are given accurate information and advice on radiological procedures. Participate in the review and update of the patient information leaflets.
• To liaise effectively with all members of the multi disciplinary team to ensure the relevant information regarding the patients needs/condition are communicated to them, and that any instructions from them regarding the patients care/condition are acted upon.
• Demonstrate high standards of nursing care, reflecting the beliefs about professional nursing practice and patient care commensurate with The Oxford Model for Exemplary Professional Nursing and Midwifery Practice.
• Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of nursing practice relevant to the clinical area.
• Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of equipment used in specialty.
• Undertake the responsibilities associated with being a practice assessor and supervisor to nursing students.
• Demonstrably contribute towards the continuing development of professional nursing practice in the department.
• Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to others at all times commensurate with The Code (NMC 2015).
• Work proactively to ensure every hospital visit meets the needs of the patient and that they are discharged in a timely manner.
• To anticipate day to day staffing problems and take appropriate action in conjunction with the deputy sister, sister and matron, to ensure good standards of care for the patient are maintained at all times.
• To take responsibility for managing and coordinating the angiography suites as required.

Previous experience working in a theatre environment, interventional radiology, neurosciences or stroke is desirable but not essential. You will be fully supported during your first 6 months with mentorship and a competency training package., Minimum of 3 years registered nurse experience, Degree level education, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
