Full Job Description

a) trauma-informed and neuro-affirming, who aligns with the Social (not Medical) model of disability. You will have a compassionate understanding of ARFID, and will never apply pressure around making me eat, only support me toward better planning and preparation of nutritious food (it would be ideal if you've gone through this kind of Autistic-led research and training: https://theautisticadvocate.com/autistic-foodidentity). Bonus points if you're a whizz with sensory experiencing, passionate about taste and texture, and can help me find a few sensory glimmers within food exploration! b) experienced in working with multiply-traumatised individuals. It would be excellent if you're up to speed with Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems. They are the therapeutic forms I've been successfully working with for several years, and would provide a shared language and supportive framework. c) trans-inclusive. I define as 'neuroqueer' (neurodivergent, queer and gender nonconforming), and would prefer to work with kin. At very least, you will be familiar with trans and non-binary issues, and fluent in gender-neutral pronouns and gender-neutral language. I'm physically-abled and do not require anyone to do things for me (aside from occasional phonecalls). What I need is someone to sensitively and creatively help me think through my blockages and cocreate strategies to experiment with, so I can better navigate around them. The work will be about helping me establish and maintain everyday routines around health/nutrition, and to reclaim areas of my home which have become unmanageable. The clutter involves the residue of a deceased abusive parent, so requires gentle handling - we won't begin that part until a stable connection has been established between us. Contract Type Part Time Permanent Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support with weekly nutrition routines
  • Occasional advocacy by phone with organisations such as NHS, social services, and business who
  • neglect their Equality Act obligations
  • Decluttering of emotionally challenging rooms, and co-designing effective environments for rest, life,
  • and freelance or volunteer work
  • Keeping in touch via instant messaging and email
  • Other reasonable tasks as they arise.

    Trauma-informed, Neuro-affirming, Gender-inclusive
  • Reliable and Accountable
  • Good with time management
  • Fluent and responsive in text-based online communication
  • Tendency towards honest and literal communication
  • Patient and compassionate around emotional dysregulation
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Positive approach to disabled people, informed by the Social Model of Disability
  • The most important qualification is that we can get on well!
  • Required Training Experience working with ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), Sensory Experiencing, and compassionate de-cluttering would be a bonus!

Hourly Rate: £12.71 Hours Per Week: 3 Hours per week How will the hours be used: Sessions can be flexible - e.g. a 3hr block, the hours spread across the week, or could be 'saved up' and used in less frequent but longer blocks (ie one 6hr session every fortnight). all to be agreed in advance to suit both our schedules. mostly afternoon based but could again be flexible as needed. About Me I am a disabled (auDHD, cPTSD) non-binary person in my 50s, living independently in Salford. My conditions include Executive Dysfunction, ARFID, and occasional Mutism (particularly phonecalls). This means that I need support to maintain my home environment; plan, shop and batch cook so I can more easily eat regularly and healthily; and occasionally deal with services or companies who only communicate via phone.
