Full Job Description

The Neurodiversity Sports Coordinator will lead the design, development, and delivery of an innovative andforward thinking inclusion project aimed at improving access to sport and physical activity for neurodivergentchildren and young people (CYP). This role will play a critical part in addressing existing barriers toparticipation by creating inclusive, welcoming, and adaptable sporting opportunities that meet a wide rangeof sensory, communication, and learning needs.

Working across the wider system, the postholder will collaborate with sports providers, education settings,community organisations, and key stakeholders to strengthen local capacity for inclusive practice. This willinvolve developing and delivering targeted training, sharing evidence based approaches, and supportingorganisations to build confidence and competence in working with neurodivergent CYP. A key focus will beon establishing sustainable frameworks and pathways that embed neuro inclusive principles into everydaypractice, ensuring lasting impact beyond the lifetime of the project.

The role will also involve engaging directly with neurodivergent children, young people, and their families toensure their voices, experiences, and feedback inform the design and delivery of activities. By fosteringstrong partnerships and co-production approaches, the coordinator will help create meaningful, accessibleopportunities that promote participation, wellbeing, and social connection., The successful candidate will manage a caseload of sports providers, supporting them to develop and sustain neuro-inclusive practices across Scarborough, Whitby, and Ryedale. They will coordinate and deliver the project in line with agreed timelines and funding requirements, build strong relationships with sports clubs, schools, community organisations, health partners, and local neurodiversity services, and promote engagement with the programme.

The role will involve delivering neurodiversity and disability inclusion training, developing tools and resources to improve accessibility, and working alongside neurodivergent children, young people, and families to co-produce services. The postholder will monitor and evaluate project outcomes, collect and analyse data, prepare reports, and use feedback to drive continuous improvement. They will maintain accurate records, support service development, oversee safeguarding and project processes, and work closely with the Head of Autism Services to ensure the delivery of high-quality, inclusive support.
