Full Job Description
Due to some recent investment to expand the Neurodevelopmental assessment team in Cornwall, an exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit some skilled support workers. The successful applicants would be working within a small team of support workers and alongside the Neurodevelopmental Assessment team, contributing to the delivery of a successful and innovative ND advice and assessment service for children, young people and their families in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
We are looking to recruit into up to 3 full time posts, but we are open to part time and flexible working requests. The posts would cover the whole of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, but we would take into consideration geographical preferences. There will be opportunity for remote working in addition to face to face contacts/clinical working (which will require travel between geographical locations for the post).
This is a generic job description and is intended as an outline of the general area of activities. It may be amended in light of the changing needs of the organisation, in which case it will be reviewed., The post holder will be focusing primarily on offering ND Consultations to Young People, their families and professionals where there are concerns in relation to neurodivergence. They will assist in identifying appropriate support and intervention based on individual need, and help to navigate available resources and external support systems. The role is likely to develop over time as the Neurodiversity strategy in Cornwall evolves. There may be opportunities to support the team leads to develop the service further e.g. to offer some information sessions, targeted support, intervention and other innovative ideas to manage the needs of the children and young people.
The support worker will develop an understanding of when there is a clinical need or necessity for a neurodevelopmental assessment, and work alongside the specialist neurodevelopmental assessment team to support decision making.
We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.
We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.
Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.
We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.
Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increase the numbers of people who use out services.
