Neonatal Outreach sister

1. Act as an advocate for infants and their families.

2. Safeguard the safety of patients, parents/ carers and staff at all times, maintaining a safe working environment.

3. Participate in the development and implementation of departmental and corporate guidelines, policies, procedures and care pathways.

4. Adhere to Unit and Corporate guidelines and policies, and ensure junior staff are aware of and perform to these standards.

5. Participate in the risk reporting procedures.

6. Ensure all equipment and safety checks are performed before use, taking action to ensure all necessary equipment is available at all times,

7. Be aware of responsibilities in regard to safe guarding children issues and act accordingly, initiating and attending inter agency meetings as required to ensure the best interests of the infant are represented.

8. Be aware of the complaints procedure, dealing with issues as appropriate or referring complainants to senior staff.

9. Participate in the development of programmes that seek to measure outcomes and quality, including audit and research studies under the guidance, support and direction of senior staff.

10. Be aware of and work according to the Lone Worker Policy.
