Full Job Description
About the Client/Child: Lucas, 7.5, is an affectionate, energetic boy living with his parents and older sister. He is physically strong and enjoys trampolining, swimming, parks, coffee shops, books, characters, audio stories, and TV. Lucas is autistic and non-verbal with developmental delay. He attends a specialist SEN school with 1:1 support and receives Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) and Occupational Therapy (OT). He communicates using an AAC device (Proloquo) on his iPad and needs help modelling communication, feeding, and bathroom routines. Lucas was recently diagnosed with epilepsy and takes medication twice daily. The Role at a Glance: You will support Lucas during his favourite weekend activities, split between London and the family's Kent home, including swimming, trampoline parks, and playground visits. Duties include driving him to activities, supervising closely, and sometimes having sole charge, while at other times working alongside the family. Weekends are planned, working three weekends on and one off. No duties are required overnight (7.00 pm-9.00 am). When in Kent, accommodation is provided; the home is close to the station, with parking available. This Job Would Suit: An experienced professional supporting non-verbal autistic children who wants a long-term weekend role. You must be active, physically able to keep up with Lucas, and confident in the water, as swimming is a key activity. The family seek someone who will integrate into family life and help Lucas continue to thrive through engaging, structured support. Why You'll Love This Role: A rewarding chance to make a meaningful difference in Lucas's development while working within a warm, team-focused family environment. Building trust and supporting Lucas's complex needs makes this role both impactful and fulfilling.
