Full Job Description

As a Music Technology Teacher, you'll play a key role in developing students' creative, technical and production skills, preparing them for further study and careers within the music industry. Ideally 1 day per week but flexibility with days/hours can be discussed. About the role:

  • Part-time (1 day) Music Technology Teacher position starting in September 2026
  • Deliver engaging Music Technology lessons across KS4 and KS5
  • Teach recording, mixing, sequencing, composition and music technology
  • Plan and assess effectively to ensure progress for all students
  • Inspire creativity, technical confidence and independent learning
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and innovative ideas
  • Contribute to the school's wider life and enrichment programmes
  • Ideal for an ECT or experienced Music Technology Teacher
  • The ideal candidate:
  • A qualified Music Technology or Music Teacher with UK QTS
  • Strong subject knowledge in music technology and production
  • Confident using industry-standard DAWs and studio equipment
  • Committed to supporting learners of all abilities
  • Passionate about promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment
  • Keen to contribute to school community
  • Responsibilities:
  • Academic Delivery: Teach Music Technology from Key Stage 4 through to A-Level, with a specific focus on delivering high-quality A-Level Music Technology units.
  • Curriculum Innovation: Contribute to the evolution of the music curriculum, integrating modern technology with classical foundations to engage a diverse student body.
  • Requirements:
  • Technical Mastery: Proven experience teaching Music Technology at A-Level is essential. You should be comfortable with industry-standard software and production techniques.
  • Qualifications: You hold QTS (or equivalent) and possess a degree-level specialisation in Music or Music Technology.
  • Pedagogical Excellence: A track record of delivering engaging Music lessons at GCSE and A-Level.
  • Other Responsibilities: Safety & Wellbeing / Safeguarding: Promote the safety and wellbeing of students, and help to safeguard students' wellbeing by following the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and our school's child protection policy Professional Development: Help keep own knowledge and understanding relevant and up to date by reflecting on their own practice, liaising with school leaders, and identifying relevant professional development to improve personal effectiveness.
