Maintenance and Repair

-Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and equipment.

-Diagnose and repair faults on electrical installations and associated plant.

-Maintain lighting systems, power distribution systems, emergency lighting, and standby power supplies.

-Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns.

-Carry out electrical testing and inspections in accordance with current regulations.

Installation Works

-Install, modify, and commission electrical systems and equipment.

-Undertake wiring installations, containment systems, and distribution boards.

-Ensure all installations comply with current electrical regulations and healthcare standards.

Compliance and Safety

-Work in accordance with the Electricity at Work Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act, and relevant NHS guidance.

-Complete electrical testing, certification, and documentation accurately.

-Follow permit-to-work systems and safe isolation procedures.

-Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control requirements when working in clinical areas.

-Report hazards, defects, incidents, and near misses promptly.

Patient and Service Support

-Minimise disruption to patient care when carrying out maintenance activities.

-Liaise professionally with clinical staff, contractors, and other departments.

-Support critical hospital services, including operating theatres, wards, diagnostic departments, and emergency systems.

Documentation and Record Keeping

-Record test results and certification details.

Emergency Response

-Respond to electrical emergencies and power failures.

-Assist during major incidents and service interruptions.

General Duties

-Work collaboratively with other members of the Estates and Facilities team.

-Support apprentices and trainees where appropriate.

-Attend mandatory training and maintain professional competence.

-Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and role.

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Electrical Maintenance Operative to support installation, maintenance, and repair tasks across various sites. The role involves working independently and collaboratively to deliver planned and remedial works on time, while strictly adhering to health and safety regulations.

Requirements

-Qualified to BS 7671 (18th Edition) in Electrical Installations

-Strong understanding of electrical systems, plant, and controls

-Ability to read and follow technical drawings and procedures

-Self-motivated, well-organised, and eager to learn

-Respectful, professional, and confident in raising safety concernJob Purpose, Recognised electrical apprenticeship.

-City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent.

-18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

-Inspection and Testing qualification (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent).

-Understanding of health and safety legislation.

-Experience working in a healthcare environment.

-Knowledge of HTM (Health Technical Memoranda) requirements.

-Experience with building management systems (BMS).

-IPAF, PASMA, or other relevant certifications.
