Full Job Description

This is an opportunity for an experienced money and debt adviser to combine their technical knowledge with leadership, supporting a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, flexible and person-centred advice., You will provide day-to-day operational leadership for the Exeter Crisis & Resilience service, line managing Navigate's Client Liaison Officers and working closely with Money Advice Caseworkers employed by our partners, CHAT and Encompass Southwest. As Navigate's operational lead for the contract, you'll help bring the different parts of the partnership together, ensuring good communication and a seamless service for clients. Our approach recognises that financial hardship rarely exists in isolation. Clients may also be experiencing poor mental or physical health, disability, trauma, homelessness, digital exclusion or other circumstances that make engaging with traditional advice services difficult. You'll support your team to take time to understand each client, build trusted relationships and remove barriers to engagement - providing flexible support tailored to individual needs rather than expecting clients to fit around the service. This role is therefore about much more than managing targets and performance. You'll lead by example, supporting your team to deliver compassionate, high-quality advice while creating an environment in which staff can develop, feel supported and deliver their best work. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will retain a small caseload of complex clients, delivering FCA-regulated debt advice, welfare benefits advice, advocacy and wider financial resilience support. You'll also help ensure the service meets its contractual, regulatory and quality requirements, using performance information, casework oversight and learning to continually improve delivery and outcomes. Location is important This is a client-facing role based in Exeter. You must be able to work within Exeter and meet clients and staff face-to-face. The team will work across Exeter, including from Council and partner locations, community venues and, where required, through outreach and home visits. The role is hybrid, with some home working available, but this is not a fully remote position.

Are you an experienced money advice professional ready to lead a team making a real difference to people experiencing financial hardship across Exeter?, You will have a minimum of two years' experience delivering money and debt advice and the knowledge and confidence to support others with complex casework. You may already be an experienced Team Leader, or you may be an experienced adviser who is ready to take the next step into leadership. What matters is your ability to support, motivate and develop others while maintaining a strong focus on quality and the best possible outcomes for clients. We're looking for someone who is:

  • an experienced and confident money and debt adviser;
  • supportive and able to bring out the best in others;
  • compassionate and committed to person-centred advice;
  • confident providing guidance and oversight on complex casework;
  • organised, resilient and solution-focused;
  • an excellent communicator who can build strong working relationships; and
  • committed to quality, continuous improvement and collaborative working.
