At Wirral CYP MHS, we are working together with families and community services to improve mental health through accessible, inclusive, specialist care and support to increase children and young people's potential and life chances, The Mental Health Support Teams are part of an exciting project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties in Wirral Primary Schools. The purpose of the mental health support team is to promote positive Mental Well-Being as well as Positive Mental Health. The main focus of Mental Health Support teams is: To provide support and advice to school staff through consultation and training To work with children and young people 1-1 or through group work To support schools in their development of a Whole School Approach to Mental Health The senior EMHP/ CYWP role for MHST will be to support the delivery of all interventions provided by Education Mental Health Practitioners and Children and Young People's Wellbeing Practitioners, ensuring that a wide range of evidence-based interventions are used to support young people's mental health. You will support leadership and will be involved in the development of the MHST alongside the Clinical Leads, Team Manager and Clinical Coordinator, supervising practitioners and coordinating a cluster of Education Mental Health practitioners and Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioners. The senior EMHP/ CYWP will also hold a small caseload., All new starters will commence in post on one fixed start date each month, in line with our Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme date. P2C offers up to 3 weeks training to support you to meet the induction / initial training requirements of the role. We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is passionate about CYP mental health. You will be a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner/ CYP Wellbeing Practitioner (registered with a professional body) and have experience of working in a Child and Young person Mental Health Support Team. You will also currently be studying to become a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner or willing to undertake this 2-year training within 12 months of starting this post. Ideally this would be a full-time position, however part-time or flexible hours may be considered,

  • Qualified Post Graduate Certificate or above from a provider university as part of the CYP-IAPT programme e.g. EMHP, CWP
  • Professional registration with recognised National Body (BPS, BABCP)
  • Senior Wellbeing Practitioner Course or willing to undertake course within 12 months of appointment.
  • Nationally recognised post-qualification, continuous professional development (CPD) related to EMHP/CWP
  • Desirable criteria
  • Therapeutic Training to intermediate / diploma level, Demonstrable working knowledge of specialist therapeutic approaches e.g. CBT, Family Therapy
  • Knowledge of Child Protection workings and Practice
  • Working knowledge of Children related legislation
  • Experience of inter-agency working
  • Experience of writing, implementing and evaluating Care / Treatment Plans
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision
  • Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with Students/ Learners, Significant post qualification experience of working within a CYPMHS or Child Mental Health related field.
  • Undertaking formal and informal clinical risk assessments and risk management planning
  • Undertaking mental health assessments
  • IT skills, including using databases, Microsoft Office and clinical systems
  • Desirable criteria
  • Post qualifying experience of working within NHS community CYPMHS
  • Recognised experience of working within an environment where evidence based interventions have been delivered
