Full Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and flexible Teacher of German, with the ability to support or cover additional subjects in a school which offers outstanding opportunities for professional development. Twyford Church of England High School, an Ofsted outstanding school with a thriving Sixth Form, is one of four Twyford Trust schools. The successful applicant will be joining us at a time of growth and the organisation therefore offers good promotion prospects for motivated and energetic teachers who support the ethos of our schools. The curriculum and assessment frameworks are stored on the school's VLE ('Copia') to ensure that all materials are accessible for students, parents and staff. The department comprises 12 teachers, led by the Head of Department and Key Stage Coordinators. The department is highly supportive and has a proven track record of successfully training new staff. Many of the team also have additional responsibilities across the school. The successful candidate may teach groups from all key stages KS3 to KS5. The successful candidate will primarily teach German across [KS3/KS4/KS5 if applicable] and support the school through general subject cover as required. We welcome applications from candidates seeking full-time or part-time working arrangements. Exact hours per week will be discussed and agreed at interview and the salary will therefore be a pro rata figure according to the hours worked.

  • A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status

    Twyford Church of England High School is the founding school of the Twyford CE Academies Trust which is the highest performing Trust in the UK. It has developed specialisms in Music and Modern Foreign Languages and a reputation for excellence which has made it heavily oversubscribed. Twyford has very strong Christian foundations and is rated 'Outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted (October 2023) and was very successful in its SIAMS inspection (November 2024).
  • Twyford educates 1000 students in years 7-11 and consistently achieves outstanding GCSE results with a Progress 8 score of +1.26 in 2023 and +1.1 in 2024. Twyford's students achieve strong results with 81% of students achieving a grade 5 or above in English and Maths, and an Attainment 8 score of 67 in 2025. The school has a large Sixth Form of over 650 students and offers a wide range of A-Levels with strong results across the 25 subjects on offer. In 2025 nearly 50% of A levels were graded A

  • The majority of Sixth Form students progress to university taking a wide range of routes including competitive courses such as Medicine and Engineering at Oxbridge and top Russell Group universities. There is also an Additional Resourced Centre for students with EHC Plans, mainly focused on students with Autism and Speech & Language difficulties.
